A mix of short notes and longer case write-ups. We keep mild reservations in — glowing-only pages are not useful when you are choosing a course.

“I came for RFMS and stayed for the stakeholder defence practice. Presenting a segment to peers who try to break it was more useful than another clustering lecture.”

Solid on behavioural flags and seasonality checks. The SQL examples assume more comfort with window functions than our junior analysts had — we paired them up and it worked, but the pace dipped that week.

Client in subscription media: “We retired three persona-led segments after the Personas vs clusters reading list and rebuilt around engagement depth. Open rates did not explode overnight — but unsubscribe complaints dropped, which was the actual goal.”
Case note
A multi-brand grocery group booked Portfolio Desk after their agencies kept proposing incompatible loyalty tiers. Over four sessions we mapped shared behavioural definitions, agreed which scores could stay brand-specific, and drafted a refresh calendar tied to seasonal resets.
Outcome after one quarter: campaign briefs referenced the same four core segments across brands, and the analytics team stopped rebuilding RFMS from scratch for every agency pitch. The limitation we documented: two brands still lack clean product hierarchy data, so monetary scores remain approximate until their catalogue clean-up finishes.
Case note
After Segment Signal Lab, the CRM lead replaced a spend-only VIP list with a recency-weighted active buyers segment plus a separate high-intent browsers flag. Early results showed fewer wasted free-shipping offers and clearer reporting — though the brand still needs better consent timestamps before they can safely expand SMS activation for the high-intent group.
